Shelley Madore to Challenge Dan Powers for the DFL Endorsement in CD2

It looks like Dan Powers has a challenger in his quest for the DFL endorsement to battle John Kline for Congress.

Former 37A State Representative Shelley Madore has expressed her intention to challenge John Kline in CD2. Shelley is a formidable candidate. She has already won in a long held Republican district. She is extremely knowledgeable on issues important to DFLers, especially healthcare, childcare and education.

I emailed a friend who is a friend of Shelley, she said the website should be up soon.

The race just got much more interesting.

Here are some link to blogs that announced her impending campaign:

  1. Am I the only person disappointed by this announcement? It’s going to take a powerhouse to really take on Kline and Madore has lost in two out of her three campaigns. It seems like she had her shot and couldn’t retain her seat even against a really inexperienced newcomer.

I’m hoping the DFL can come up with somebody viable, not just a one and done.

    1. Mr. Braunfield, do you have any suggestions? People are not pounding down the door to run. Before Shelley announced, Dan Powers was the only candidate running. He has little to no experience. Who else do you want? In Shelley’s defense, she won in a red district, and in her re-election bid lost after being outspent 2 to 1. Yeah, she might be outspent 2 to 1 again, but at least she has a record of winning, and is very knowledgeable about the issues facing 2nd district families.
